The 8 best wireless car chargers for 2023

One of the main accessories any car owner would want is a good phone charger. A wired charger is certainly a perfectly fine way to charge your phone in your car and should provide the fastest charge with the right power adapter and cable (iPhone needs a USB-C to Lightning Cable for fast charging). However, you must connect this cable to your phone each time you want to charge it and disconnect it when you remove the phone from the car mount. With a wireless charger, simply place your phone in the car mount – or in the case of magnetic mounts – and your phone starts charging automatically.

Wireless charging doesn’t mean there are no wires involved – you’ll still need to connect the charger to your car. But once it’s set up, all you have to do is pop in your phone when you want to drink.

Note that every wireless charger in this buyer’s guide is compatible with any mobile phone that supports wireless charging, whether it’s an iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, or any other Qi-enabled phone (some magnetic mounts include adhesive metal plates for Android devices to make them stick to the stand) .

I will be updating this list as new wireless car chargers hit the market.

iOttie’s “autosense” wireless car charger with phone holder is one of the best car chargers out there. While they are somewhat pricey, we’ve seen some great discounts on them recently. The Auto Sense Automatic Clamping Qi Charging Car Phone Holder is available in a dashboard mount or CD mount version and a vent clip version. (I tried the Dashboard Wireless Charging Stand.) This wireless car charger mount has a well-designed telescoping arm with a strong suction cup, and the wireless charging stand feature is compatible with most phone cases. You get 7.5W charging for iPhone and 10W for Android phones, which is fast wireless charging.

This Qi wireless charger comes with a dual-charge USB cigarette lighter adapter. My only gripe — and it’s a small one — is that the included cable is Micro-USB and not USB Type-C. Once you plug this Qi charger into your wireless car charging stand, you can basically forget about it, but if the cable accidentally disconnects (which it does), it’s The easiest is to connect a USB-C cable to charge the phone, especially when you’re driving.

If you don’t mind a no-name brand like ZeeHoo, their wireless car charger has most of the features you’ll want for phone charging, including an automatic flashlight and a secure suction cup that can be attached to your car’s air vent, windshield, or dashboard. . It has USB-C and up to 15W fast charging for Android phones that support it (iPhones are limited to 7.5W charging). This upgraded version has a sleeker design than the original (see below), and costs about $20 less than the iOttie above. However, this wireless charger does not come with a cigarette lighter adapter – only a USB-C cable.

The wireless car mount charger is one of the most popular generic wireless car chargers with an auto-sensing telescopic arm, and the original version I tried generally worked well, attaching securely to my car’s air vent mount and giving my smartphone or QI-enabled device a fast charge. I loved that the wireless car charger came with both a phone mount for mounting the air vent in my car (if you just want the air vent mount, there’s a vent-only version that costs $30).

Note that for fast charging you will need a power adapter that supports it (not included).

Belkin renders a MagSafe Car Air Vent Mount It costs about $40 plus BoostCharge Pro ($100, see below), and it’s Apple-certified and wirelessly charges iPhones at up to 15W. And while this model — the Belkin BoostCharge Wireless Magnetic Car Charger — only charges iPhones at up to 10 watts, it’s more affordable at about $60. Its USB-C cable is removable (Built in BoostCharge Pro) and you get a 20W cigarette lighter power adapter. Personally, I like the car power adapter with two USB-C ports so the passenger can plug in a cable and charge their phone, but you can always choose to add that later.

iOttie

iOttie introduces the MagSafe Compatible Wireless Car Charger with Car Air Vent Mount. It has strong magnets, so your iPhone stays on the stand, and it also has a built-in USB-C cable and cigarette lighter power adapter, so you’re ready to start charging out of the box. Note that “fast” iPhone charging is up to 7.5W.

Scosche’s MagicMount Pro Charge is designed for both MagSafe-enabled iPhones but can also be used with Android devices if you stick the included MagicPlate to the back of your phone or case (it’s a metal plate that sticks to the holder’s magnet).

You have the option to purchase the mount in a variety of styles, including vent and dashboard versions as well as one with a telescoping arm. A 20W car power adapter is included and the Qi Wireless Charger offers charging speeds of up to 15W with some Android devices (dropped to 7.5W for iPhones).

The Belkin BoostCharge Pro Wireless Car Charger with MagSafe is one of the few official wireless car chargers MagSafe certified by Apple, meaning it can charge iPhones at their highest wireless charging speed of 15W (most wireless car chargers only charge iPhones up to 7.5W). The stand rotates, so you can view your phone in landscape or portrait mode, and a 20-watt car power adapter is included.

This is a vent mount and it stays in place very well and has a strong magnet. However, it’s got quite a bit of heft, and it pops out of the car’s air vent when it hits a bump in the road (not a small bump but a bigger one). It’s also very expensive. But if you really want 15W fast charging for your MagSafe-enabled iPhone, this is the wireless charger to get.

If you’ve already got Apple’s MagSafe wireless charging disc, this Spigen mounting accessory is a good option to bring to your car. Like I said, the MagSafe Wireless Charger is not included. Nor is the USB-C cigarette lighter adapter. But at $30, this is a fairly affordable magnetic accessory.

Note: Just be sure to get the right cigarette lighter adapter with it to get the maximum charging speed of 15W. Also, since this relies on magnets from the wireless charging disc for it to stick to your phone (a MagSafe case is required if you’re using a case), it’s not recommended for the larger iPhone 14 Pro Max because the mount is more likely to slide — especially if you hit a bump — due to its weight.

The Scosche MagicGrip FreeFlow Autogrip has two key features: an auto-sensing arm that automatically opens when you place your phone in front of the mount (and closes around your phone when placed on the mount), as well as a swinging articulating arm that provides flexible viewing options for your device, including landscape and portrait modes.

The wireless car charger provides charging speeds of up to 10W for Android devices and 7.5W for iPhones. A 12V power adapter is included.

okay

Okay, this isn’t a wireless charger, but a lot of the wireless car chargers on this list don’t include a cigarette lighter power adapter, so I thought I’d put this one on the list last. I originally had an Aukey power adapter on this list, but it’s out of stock, and Ainope’s tiny USB Fast Car Charger offers faster charging (up to 24W) for less. It has two USB-C and USB-A ports so you can charge two devices at the same time, but to get 15W wireless charging, you’d be better off charging a single device.

Note that to get the fastest wired charging for iPhones, you’ll need to use a USB-C-to-Lightning cable. This cable is not included.
