UFC 287 is about to host the newest chapter in UFC 287 A long running feud between Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira.
After losing to Pereira twice in kickboxing bouts, the narrative in the first UFC fight was simple: Adesanya would be too experienced for Pereira, a close relative of mixed martial arts.
And that account was accurate. At UFC 281, for four consecutive rounds, Adesanya largely dominated the first MMA fight, but then, in the final round, Pereira knocked Adesanya down on his feet, before landing a brutal barrage of punches on the former middleweight king, forcing the referee to stop fighting. surprise win? somewhat. Most expected Adesanya to win, but no one doubted that the incredibly devastating Pereira had a chance to punch.

Now it’s time to rematch. Adesanya is now playing 0-3 against Pereira but it looked like he was fighting his last fight before the end. Does this mean that Adesanya will win the rematch? not exactly. You only need to look at the recent fight between Leon Edwards and Kamaru Usman to see why. After winning via Hail Mary by knockout in their first title fight, Edwards outlasted Usman in a final rematch. Point being: Pereira knows he can finish Adesanya in an MMA fight and that kind of confidence changes everything.
Either way, this is a great rematch. I, for one, can’t wait to see how it goes.
