“The scammers began placing inaccurate phone numbers over the images that were contributed, hoping to trick unsuspecting victims into calling the scammer rather than actually doing the work,” Gupta explained.
The company said its machine learning technology was able to catch these fake photos, remove them from Google Maps faster and in many cases block them before they were posted.
