Google Fi is said to drop cellular in the US, leaving T-Mobile as the newest network

Google Fi, the tech company’s mobile virtual network operator, previously based its service on three different carriers for subscribers to cycle through in search of the best signal. While that was down to two after the combined T-Mobile and Sprint networks merged, that’s now limited to one after Google reportedly dropped US Cellular as the official network.

Google Fi support supposedly told users US Cellular was going away last week, according to Google Fi Reddit post. Google Fi Google Fi users can still take advantage of the US Cellular network, but only while roaming, for which users are still not charged a fee, Google representative 9to5Google said.

However, having a US cellular network will come in handy in areas not covered by T-Mobile’s network.

US Cellular and Google did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
